What is a Quinceañera?
History of the Quinceañera
A Quinceañera is a celebration of a girl's 15th birthday. It has its cultural roots in Mexico and is widely celebrated by girls throughout Latin America. This birthday is celebrated differently from any other as it marks the transition from childhood to young womanhood. It's a very special celebration in the Hispanic culture. This day is long awaited by families and especially coming of age girls – it’s likened to the American ‘Sweet 16.’
First Things First... Pick the Right Venue
That's where Carnes Lake Banquet Hall can help. One of your top considerations when planning your quinceañera is ensuring that the venue is the right size for your gathering. Simply put, a large, half-full venue just isn't as much fun as a more intimate space filled with your friends and family. We are here to make sure Carnes Lake Banquet Hall is just right for you.
Consider Privacy
A significant reason why many people choose Carnes Lake is because of privacy. Not everyone wants, or has the budget, for a big event space for their quinceañera. If this sounds familiar, think about how special and intimate your big day can be at our private 7 acre lake. Carnes Lake is fenced and gated to ensure the privacy of you and your guests. The private lakefront venue will make you smile and breathe a little easier as soon as you arrive. The hall will accommodate around 100-150 people inside and room to double that with outdoor seating. Another great feature is ample parking for all you guests.
Coordinate Your Decorations
Decorations can be intricate or simple, custom-ordered or DIY, expensive or (relatively) free. Regardless of how much money and effort you choose to expend on your decor, make sure that everything is coordinated around your quinceañera’s theme and colors. On the day of your party, don’t try to do everything yourself. Asking friends and family members to help you prepare the event space will make the task more fun and a million times easier.
Choose Your Court Wisely
Traditionally, a quinceañera court is made up of 15 people: 14 of your best friends and you, la quinceañera! Because each member represents a year in your life, try sticking to this number if possible, although your court may be made up of 14 girls (with boy escorts, if desired), 14 boys, or a mix of seven girls and seven boys. It’s important that you choose these friends carefully. Not only should the members of your court be your closest companions, but they must also be able to handle a certain amount of responsibility. Select people that you can rely on to help you plan, decorate, and choreograph, and avoid including people who might try to steal the spotlight during your big day.
Honor Your Relatives
You wouldn’t be here without the love and support of your family! Your quinceañera is a wonderful time to honor the family members that have helped you grow into the beautiful young woman you’ve become. Think of special ways to include grandparents, stepfathers and stepmothers, aunts and uncles, and any other important family friends or relatives in the celebration. Even if you just ask them to sew your dress or help you practice dancing, your loved ones will be overjoyed to be involved.
Think About Your Guests
Creating ultra-personalized stationery is not that expensive and will be an area where you can spend a little and get a lot. Order custom invitations from Etsy or ShutterFly and choose colors, wording and designs that fit her style, the feel of her event and are just right for her.
Cherished Memories
Last but most importantly, memories from your Quinceañera will last forever. This is because it was all about her and being surrounded by the ones she loves. When you look back on the pictures from this day you will see all the things that make life worth living.
